Background

Corporate office space in East London has integrated IBOS into the whole building’s infrastructure, including the Building Management System (BMS), central plant, chillers, boilers, Air Handling Units (AHUs), Low-Temperature Hot Water (LTHW) systems, and extract fans.

Insights

The cause of the large out-of-hours energy usage was identified and as a result , optimisation rules were implemented to reduce this energy consumption during non-operational hours.

Further optimisation rules were subsequently applied to enhance energy efficiency, which included the optimisation of the running times of the plant.

Additionally, efficiencies were identified to reduce the impact on energy consumption due to the 24/7 occupation of a single floor in the building.

“The savings in the first year achieve 100% payback of installation costs within two weeks. A year later, the system delivers a 20% annual saving on building energy consumption, reducing costs by £434 k compared to the previous year.” – Trilogy
